A hardcover edition built to last
We help you decide between a case laminate cover and a dust jacket, prepare files to the board and hinge measurements, and check the proof before your hardcover edition is released.

A hardcover is often the copy a reader keeps, gives as a gift or asks you to sign.
More than a paperback with stiff covers
Hardcover files follow different rules. The cover wraps around boards, so it needs extra bleed for the turn-in, an allowance for the hinge, and a spine calculated for the boards as well as the pages. A dust jacket adds front and back flaps, which are useful space for an author photo, biography and longer description.
There are also choices to make about finish. Case laminate prints the artwork directly onto the boards and is popular for children's books and print-on-demand editions. Cloth binding with foil-stamped spine lettering gives a classic look, usually paired with a jacket. We explain what each printing route can offer and how it affects the budget.
One book, every edition
Most authors publish in more than one format. We prepare each edition to its own technical standard, from the same approved text.

What you gain with hardcover publishing
We help you decide between a case laminate cover and a dust jacket, prepare files to the board and hinge measurements, and check the proof before your hardcover edition is released.
The right cover style
Case laminate, a dust jacket over plain boards, or both: we explain how each looks, what it costs to produce and which readers and genres tend to expect it.
Measurements done properly
Board size, hinge, turn-in and spine width are calculated from the printer's specification and your page count, so artwork wraps cleanly without stretched or clipped edges.
Jacket flaps used well
Front and back flaps give room for a fuller description, endorsements and your biography. We help you plan that copy so the whole jacket reads as one considered piece.
Finish options explained
Foil stamping, cloth colors, head and tail bands and printed endpapers vary from printer to printer. We tell you what is available for your route and what each adds.
Everything in the brief
The exact scope is confirmed in writing before work begins, so you always know what you are paying for.

Four clear steps
- 1
Pick the format
We discuss case laminate, jacketed or cloth options, along with print-on-demand or offset routes, and agree a specification that fits your budget.
- 2
Adapt the artwork
Your cover design is rebuilt on the hardcover template, with extra wrap allowance, a correctly sized spine and flaps if you have chosen a jacket.
- 3
Check the proof
We examine the proof for board alignment, spine lettering, color, jacket fit and any foil or cloth details that were specified.
- 4
Release the edition
After you approve, we help you set the hardcover up in your accounts with its own ISBN and link it to your other editions.
Case laminate prints the cover artwork straight onto the boards, which is durable and practical, especially for children's books. A dust jacket is a separate wrapped sheet with flaps, worn over plain or cloth boards, and gives a more traditional, premium look.
Usually the artwork can be reused, but the file cannot. Hardcover templates are larger, include wrap and hinge allowances, and have a different spine width. We adapt your existing design rather than starting again, and check with the original designer if the files came from elsewhere.
Options through print-on-demand are generally more limited than with an offset printer, and they vary between services. If foil, cloth or special endpapers matter to you, we can look at short-run or offset printing and explain the cost difference.
Yes. Each physical format is treated as a separate product and normally needs its own ISBN, so your paperback and hardcover will each have one. We help you assign them correctly and link the editions together in your listings.
If the interior and cover already exist for a paperback, adapting them is usually fairly quick. Hardcover proofs can take longer to arrive, particularly for offset printing. We give you a realistic schedule once your specification is agreed.
