Choose your publishing route with clear eyes
In a focused one-to-one session, we look at your book, goals and budget, explain self-publishing, hybrid and traditional routes without bias, and leave you with a realistic plan for what comes next.
- Free initial consultation
- Clear written quote
The best publishing route is the one that matches your goals, not someone else's success story.
Advice before you spend anything
Authors often arrive with conflicting advice: a friend who self-published, an article urging them to query agents, an offer from a company charging to publish. Each route can suit the right book and author. The useful question is which one fits your goals, your timeline and the money and time you can realistically commit.
A consultation gives you around an hour with an experienced adviser who has read your materials in advance. We explain how each route works, what it typically costs and how long it tends to take, and we are honest when a service we offer is not what you need. You leave with written notes.

What you gain with publishing consultation
In a focused one-to-one session, we look at your book, goals and budget, explain self-publishing, hybrid and traditional routes without bias, and leave you with a realistic plan for what comes next.
Neutral comparison
Self-publishing, hybrid and traditional publishing each involve different trade-offs in control, cost, rights and speed. We set them out fairly, including routes that we do not provide ourselves.
Realistic budgets
We outline the typical cost categories for your chosen route, from editing and design to proofs and marketing, so you can plan spending in a sensible order.
Timelines you can plan around
You see how long each stage generally takes, from editing to proofs and release, and where delays most often occur, which helps if you are working toward a date.
Offers talked through
If you have received a hybrid or publishing services offer, we walk through what is included and which questions to ask. This is practical guidance, not legal advice.

Written follow-up
You receive a summary of what we discussed, with budget ranges, a suggested timeline and a clear list of next steps.
No. If traditional publishing suits your book better, we will say so and explain how to approach it. If you only need a single service, we say that too. The consultation is designed to give you a clear view, and there is no obligation to work with us afterwards.
In self-publishing you act as the publisher, pay for services and keep control of your accounts. Hybrid publishers usually charge the author for production and then publish under their own imprint, sharing revenue. Terms vary widely between companies, so the details of any offer matter.
We can explain how agent submissions work and what a strong submission package includes, and our editorial team can help with query letters and synopses. We cannot place your book with an agent or predict any agent's decision.
No. Many authors book while still drafting, which is often the best time to plan. A synopsis, an outline or a few chapters is enough for us to understand the book and give useful, specific advice.
Sessions usually last around an hour, with preparation beforehand and a written summary afterwards. The fee is fixed and confirmed when you book, so there are no surprises. If you go on to work with us, we will tell you how the consultation fee is treated.
